For all the vision folks who are planning to go to DC SfN this year: we now have a Vision pre-meeting!!!
New preprint from the lab on synapse development in the nascent neocortical hierarchy!
Using mice that label MAGUK proteins developed by Seth Grant we find key differences in the laminar maturation of association and sensory motor cortices, including delayed, cortex-wide maturation of L1 synapses.
Excited to share new work from the lab led by Laura Sichlinger and published in Science Advances - thank you to all involved! Please see the new article below for more information and links to the paper!
New preprint from our lab! We integrate proteomics-informed candidate selection with targeted spatial transcriptomics and protein-level validation to identify astrocytic VCAM1 as a novel regulator of hippocampal synapses.

Researchers at King’s College London have identified the biological nature and timing of changes in human cortical neurons caused by altering activity of a schizophrenia-associated gene in developing human neurons. This discovery links a genetic risk factor to cellular changes in neurons; an essential step for understanding the neurobiology of this mental illness and developing future treatments.
