I have a beautiful citrine that’s one of my favorite specimens. Beyond its beautiful color and magnificent geometry, the texture of its facets is absolutely fascinating.
Here are two photos to give you an idea, taken with subtle backlighting.

Colemanite is one of those transparent to white borates with crystals of exceptional purity, formed by evaporation in ancient large lakes. Here, the pure crystals cascade like sharp waves across this large specimen.

Magnesioferrite is a highly magnetic iron and magnesium oxide. It forms as a perfect tetrahedron, but I only have this mass formation in my systematic collection.
You need to zoom in on the bottom of the photo to see a few geometric crystallisation

Muscovite is the most common mineral in the mica group; everyone has come across it in the wild at some point, drawn to its shiny flakes.
This specimen comes from the Provençal scrublands in France.

A touch of green for this #MineralMonday, featuring the sharp edges of a beautiful specimen of diopside. I love the transparency of the crystals, their sharp edges and the dynamic flow of this mineral wave!

Todorokite is a very soft manganese oxide that occurs in a variety of forms. On this specimen, it forms stalagmites that are difficult to photograph. Its bronze colour is fascinating.
And sometimes, it pseudomorphs from mushrooms!

Chrysotile is one of the main types of asbestos, and the photo of a fracture on this specimen clearly shows the mineral’s fibrous nature, and all those tiny fibres just waiting to find their way into our lungs.
A dangerous mineral!

Yellow uranocircite is, as its name suggests, a uranium mineral. I couldn’t increase the magnification any further to try and capture the pretty little crystals, but this yellow patch reminds me of the eye of an ancient creature hidden within the rock.

A delicate snowball-like formation of ferrierite microcrystals, nestled within a small pocket through which a highly geometric crystal – quartz? heulandite? – runs in the background.
A very small and fragile area; impossible to clean before the photo!

Beryl is a silicate whose gem-quality varieties (emerald, heliodor, etc.) are highly sought after, but it is also very beautiful when it crystallizes, as in this specimen from the United States.
A lovely blue for a great #MineralMonday
