My 10 year old and I are reading through the minor prophets at night and came across this powerful summary from Zechariah 7 of how God calls his people to live. An evergreen word, but particularly relevant for today.
If I could share only one Bible verse with every Democrat, Republican, and Independent in Washington it would be Daniel's words to King Nebuchadnezzar which call for both personal and corporate righteousness in how leaders steward power:

When the Anglo-Saxons migrated to the British Isles around 410 A.D. they called the native peoples Welsh, or “foreigners” and took their land.
I can’t help but think of that presumptuous audacity when I hear stories of harassment against the only people in this land who *aren’t* immigrants.
I had my first taste of tailgating this week. Here’s what I learned:
1. Community is not dead
2. Shared allegiances create shortcuts for connection
3. Imagination flows from immersion

God is not on the “us” side of Stephen Miller’s “us vs. them” construct. That is the construct the teacher of the law assumed when he asked the question that catalyzed Jesus’ parable: “Who is my neighbor?”
