They didn't have to kill Vega to trigger Jane. They could have her survived after a touch and go or something.
It's kind of a woman in the fridge by proxy. Also leaving only one woman in the team for the rest of the show.

Really the worst of the copaganda episodes of the show, which is saying something. The season before that shown the lawyer of a kidnapping suspect has a monster for representing her client.
I don't know introduce an redshirt agent at the begining of the episode or something. I know killing a known character is the point, it has more emotional weight but in the end they introduced a character that whole arc was to be one guy crush, accepting a date with him and then die to trigger
Somehow Jane killing Red John (twice) didn't feel as bad because 1- he's not a cop whose wife is nominated to work as a high level of government 2- he didn't try to cover it up. I am not saying he was right and vigilante justice is good but at least they didn't show a full FBI team covering it up.
The main character (a white man) into being over protective with his girlfriend. She's basically a multi episode redshirt.
Relistening to this and this reminds me what is a similar expression for "pop his/her cherry" in your language?
In french an older expression is "perdre sa fleur" (lose one's flower)
