The way I see it, Abstraction is reversible because deleted data still exist within the software. Their body run on Caine's program, which meets an error without the removed brain scan, resulting in abstraction. But the data is still inside the abstracted body, meaning it could be restored.
Caine's case is different because he is omnipresent. We saw his body disappear, but his mind was left intact; it just needed a new body to inhabit. He was a god inside the digital realm, after all. He caused the first abstraction by meddling with Scratch's brain scan. We even see him do it to Pomni.
I'm gonna headcanon this is how Jax comes out of her abstracted state once they figure out how to restore corrupted data. I'd commission Goose herself if I could
