Extremely proud of this work, led by #PhD student @joanaff.bsky.social !
Sex matters under #ocean #warming π
In amphipods, females outperform males in heat tolerance & metabolic plasticity. Warming may skew sex ratios toward females. New in @globalchangebio.bsky.socialπ

New paper!
We show that in situ responses of the common goby to #seasonal change vary even across small-scale #latitudinal gradients. Southern #populations exhibit higher vulnerability than their northern counterparts, a pattern driven by reduced metabolic plasticity and increased #cellular damage.
Big thanks to the two opponents Trish @trishschulte.bsky.social and Diana @dianasmadeira.bsky.social, and committee chair @rijacobsen.bsky.social! Thanks for making this a fantastic day full of excellent scientific discussion!
