Everyone is simmering their brains in the same stew of right-wing newspapers and right-wing social media content and I'm afraid the people who are inclined to be more sympathetic to state and civic institutions (i.e. MPs, columnists & cops) are likely more susceptible to brain-rot than most.

I think @gregk.co.uk explained this really well recently on @trashfuture.bsky.social, saying essentially the cops are not a monastic order descend from the mountains to impartially dispense The Law, but individuals with their own views who by and large also think they do too much woke and DEI.
