Don't ignore the "contaminants" on your grids ! We noticed this filament while solving the S. sanguinis T4P structure during my PhD. It turned out to be an incredible eDNA-protease assembly: literally a suspension bridge of proteins & DNA ! 🌉 Happy to finally share this story.

For years, the #cryoEM community viewed ~50 kDa as the practical lower size limit for SPA. This was challenged by Kim et al., who introduced the HR-HAIR method and demonstrated structure determination of proteins below 30 kDa using #CryoSPARC. Read more 👉 bit.ly/3RHMxAt
OK— so @phaips.vd.st & @florentwaltz.bsky.social have been testing extensively, and it's pretty clear that MissAlignment may be the best thing to happen to #TeamTomo in the last couple years. One issue: we have to re-process all our data again, hopefully for the last time 😅. Congrats and THANK YOU!!
Hello #world, meet 1,000× Expansion Microscopy.
A small gel would grow to the size of an Olympic swimming pool, while amino-acid-scale distances become visible with ordinary light microscopy.

Exciting times for our lab- recent developments in cryoET tools and workflows now allow us apply these to study microbes in the host context. #teamtomo

Researchers have identified superparamagnetic macrophages in the livers of rock pigeons to be crucial for magnetic sensing. The finding uncovers an unexpected role for immune cells in sensory perception and may fundamentally change our understanding of animal navigation.

It's a small project, but hopefully useful for others running RELION jobs.
