i DEFINITELY miss the lack of light pollution though. I used to be able to see sooooo many stars at night if i just walked into the backyard of my parents' place and look up on a clear day. here, it's pretty surprising how empty the night sky looks by comparison.

cityscape sounds are so different compared to small-town sounds. it was often *dead quiet* back in my hometown, save for the rustling of trees or a distant train whistle. but in the city i hear lots of cars and bikes, EV's with their strange whirring, and the occasional wind gust
i think i actually prefer the city sounds? it reminds me the window's still open so I can remember to shut it before i leave the apartment or go to sleep. i thought i'd miss the quiet hometown vibes, but i guess not lol
it appears as though 'rent-lowering gunshots' is truly a viable methodology to avoid, or at least mitigate, that kind of prolonged harm.
