My grief for Aaron and his family persists to this day, though of course it's the kind of scarred over grief that one has after enough time.
Those scars in my mind ... trauma is what they are... they ache every time we talk about police and policing.

The idea that the end result of six years of public process on police oversight is (a) cameras with no oversight and (b) a half million dollar increase in the police budget (c) zero meaningful progress towards oversight ... it's enraging.

The working group members do hope that their work ... 20 months of it ... leads to the creation of some level of independent oversight of Somerville's police.
I hope that too. It would be a shame to just piss away this scale of public engagement.
