I got my wish.
This is a field in the game, there are 700 individual blades of grass, each of them cast their own shadow. OBS capture sucks, but this runs smooth 60fps quite easily.

All I wanted was a pixel art 3d engine where I didn't have to use a 3d editor and pixel perfect shadows cast by multiple dynamic lights that cast on to other sprites for realistic shadow cover. And hundreds of shadow casters in a scene. And for it to run on a potato.
Is that truly too much to ask?
