it may be good to set up NixOS in a VM, then you can play around with the config as much as you want without breaking anything important
then once you are happy with your setup, you can use it on the real deal
updated and tested!
(and fixed the GitHub action to check for updates so it should remain up-to-date)

but, @hejchristian.com I do enjoy NixOS! it provides super easy rollback functionality if you run into issues, so it's fun to tinker with
An alternative is using any distro and adding Nix package manager
(also works on macOS)
