I whizzed through this over the weekend. As intricate a case study of televison as you would expect from David, full of insight and connections through a dizzying array of sources. There are already a number of rich, rewarding books about Doctor Who's foundational days. This, happily, is another.
For this week's DWLit episode I needed greatness, and greatness I found in two places: @dalesmithonline.com discussing his excellent @blackarchive.co.uk volume on "The Greatest Show in the Galaxy"; and the vocal talents of @monstersovka.bsky.social stepping into the ring.

Oh same - there's lots about it that I really like and the DVD Special Edition helps with some of the original editing issues, but there are definitely moments where a more sure-handed director and production team could have escalated it. @purserhallard.com's @blackarchive.co.uk on it is fascinating
