I asked Norman Rockwell's granddaughter, Daisy Rockwell, about this use of her grandfather's work. She writes: "It goes without saying that they have completely misunderstood the meaning of the painting, which is tolerance for others and peaceful coexistence."
Trump on the reflecting pool: "If you had a knife, you can't even cut it." Also, Trump on the reflecting pool: "They cut it."

I interviewed Daisy Rockwell last fall about the DHS/ICE recruitment ads featuring Norman Rockwell's paintings (without permission), and the disgust the family felt about this hijacking of his legacy. www.thebulwark.com/p/norman-roc...

The bill, which passed 85-5 and now heads to the House, has been the focus of intense negotiations in recent weeks as lawmakers in both parties try to address housing costs in an election year.
Their belief in this is not only individual, but also racial. Trump's "horserace theory" and belief his MIT uncle says something about his genetics is part of this. It's also the rise of "human biodiversity" as a re-framed race science. The believe it deeply, and they are angered by its subversion.

This is a really impressive roster! (I wrote a paper about Nelson Algren in college that turned into quite a journey, taking me to Sag Harbor to visit his grave, interviewing folks to justify the trip! He could be a jerk, but holy shit, he could write.) 🎁 🔗: www.chicagotribune.com/2026/06/20/i...

Take a look at this list of news stories from conservative tabloid, The Daily Mail. The 'reporter' behind this drek just got hired by Bari Weiss for the CBS News investigative team. Are you kidding me? This isn't journalism, it's a MAGA fever dream. open.substack.com/pub/jennifer...

They keep doing this because they genuinely believe that competence is genetic, and if you have the “right” people in positions of power and authority, their natural inheritance as leaders will kick in like a Marvel movie superpower.

The Trump administration has been putting incompetent unqualified partisans in charge of intelligence and counter-terrorism agencies -- remember 22-year-old Thomas Fugate, the kid in charge of counter-terrorism at DHS? Even if they're not *trying* to get us attacked, they're leaving us vulnerable.
