So many of the bass lines I love are played with a pick and I regretfully have come to accept that I can never quite get there playing with fingers but that is all I am really comfortable with, I was indoctrinated from an early age and it is too late to change now.
No offense & I am not proud of being ignorant about anything, but when people start talking about what kind of pickups are on the guitar and comparing notes it brings me back to childhood listening to my dad talk to other Car Guys about dual cam oscillating 680s or whatever, my eyes glaze.
It's a journey.

Yeah I am probably sounding mean and I do not want to be mean, then again the best players I have ever been around were not collectors. I remember asking a horn player (fucking genius) about his horn and he told me about how he hung on to it through the process of declaring personal bankruptcy.

I am not a poet. @geschwartz58.bsky.social is a dedicated practitioner in certain forms, and they are brilliant. For me, an open form where lines break where they "sound" like they should, or for emphasis, or to stop before carrying on, seems right for some things. Or maybe I am illiterate.
