Not a big deal with a fellow small account. But a mid-size or large account? It's pretty inconsiderate to shine a light on a rando for an opinion you disagree with and then just walk away.
Now, if you're going to meaningfully engage that's one thing. But don't just blast and burn.
Today was an interesting experience in being misread by a large number of passers-by online.
A couple of takeaways: Bluesky's notification and interaction settings are well tuned. It's relatively easy to manage the deluge.
OTOH, quote tweeting to dunk not discuss is a dick move. Instant bad vibes.
And FWIW, I'm reminded in this moment that there are a lot of different ways to "be politically engaged online."
Because for as much as a lot of us here feel like we're "in the thick of it," I know for a fact my local dem party rep who is all over instagram with posts and stories about on-the-ground events and organizing activities is making a bigger difference than a thousand blueskyers - myself included.
Food for thought: Internet points don't count in the ballot box.
One thing that's interesting is this is behavior I see more from people in the middle-size tier. I rarely see it from the largest accounts. Unsure which directly the causality runs, but it's probably a mutually reinforcing feedback loop
In sum, if you do that a lot, you'll hit a ceiling eventually
