Every summer I repost this article on how to spot drowning. Please read it and pass on. In the last few years I’ve had SIX messages from people who saved a kid’s life after clicking on the link from my feed. slate.com/technology/2...
The May issue of Rundale on the theme of housing is out now. Five new contributions that approach housing and inhabitation in Ireland from new angles, offering different framings of (and answers to) ‘the housing question’. Quality analysis that you just don't find elsewhere. rundale.org
Also finished reading this alongside. A graphic memoir that offers another nuanced, funny and sad reflection on gender and labour, capitalism and extractivism and more
Took recommendation & loved this too. A pleasure to read the passages about the Museum Building (& comfort that moths more common than my office). A lot else resonated with me, on failures & frustrations of writing, on class, on parenting young kids while working, & feeling at boundary of identities
Lots of great contributions here, including an insightful analysis by @dukechussey93.bsky.social of @mickbyrne.bsky.social book which forms a launching off point to consider value theory and housing politics
Good to see this important contribution. Universities in Ireland must coordinate to resist this change
RIP Sonny Rollins. Always one of my favourites
If you want to understand what’s going on in the city (and why) in relation to housing, public space, investment in infrastructure, and local community is very much recommend.
Really thoughtful review of my book by @dukechussey93.bsky.social, addressing some of the thorniest issues in the book, i.e. the conceptualisation of home and value www.rundale.org/2026/06/03/c...

Drowning is not the violent, splashing call for help that most people expect.

My letter to Minister Lawless about Research Ireland's decision to devolve the awarding of doctoral scholarships & postdoctoral fellowships to universities. A disastrous move. Please consider raising this issue in your own institutions and with elected representatives and the media.
