We can't believe it's - checks datestamp - 11 days ago already. Thanks to everyone who participated in #RACTRAC!
Thank you to everyone who came and contributed to our discussions!
Great speakers today at our colloquium 'Letters and Landscapes' - thank you to outgoing Roman Society president Roy Gibson for talking us through when letters go to and from Rome, or round the Mediterranean region, to Kathryn Tempest on what it means that there's almost no landscapes in Cicero...
Ruth Morello on Cicero's travels and anxieties, and James Corke-Webster for connecting letters of refugees in Calais to letters of early Christian martyrs (in a much more nuanced and complex way than Bluesky allows)
We'll try to take better pics of our speakers in future!-too engrossed in the talks

Part of a Roman dedicatory inscription from the Milecastle at Hotbank, Hadrian’s Wall.
It translates:
Built by Emperor Caesar Trajan Hadrian Augustus...the Second Legion Augusta under Aulus Platorius Nepos, propraetorian legate'.
Nepos was governor of Britannia AD 122 to 125.
