Like nearly everything associated with white supremacist politics, the Skinhead look was appropriated, mainly by the National Front, a far-right organization that flourished during the Thatcher years.
For the record, the proper name to distinguish racist skinheads from the original kind is "boneheads." The skin movement actually started out as a movement of white working-class kids in solidarity with Black kids whose parents immigrated to Britain in the 50s.
