*SURPRISED PIKACHU FACE*
It’s everything Oak has ever wanted but he also doesn’t want to screw up their friendship. But the way Lawson just keeps wheedling him for his 🍆… how can he resist? Plus the thought of ANYONE touching Law other than him sets his jealousy to 10/10.
Now Lawson came to strong arm him home, with immense love. What does it mean? It gets even more complicated when Lawson admits that he’s questioning his seggsuality and he wants to be f*cked by a man, and he wants that man to be Oakley since he’s Pan.
Back home in Darling, Oakley is upped back into his old life as if he never left, and it’s unsettling. What Lawson doesn’t know is that he left because he’s always been secretly in love with his bestie and he needed the space.
So Lawson gets in his truck and drives across country o get him back. It’s shocking but Oakley can’t resist Lawson. He never could.
But his bff is nowhere to be found, having hightailed it out of state to be with his partner.
But Oakley has broken up with his partner, equally at odds with his life now that his relationship has gone t1ts up.
Lawson is a teacher, a father, divorced and at odds about figuring out who he is and what he needs. He clearly needs help figuring out his seggsual identity after his marriage just didn’t end up working.
It opens with Lawson and Oakley as wee babes, childhood bffs and clearly soulmates of a kind, and we see that bond built from a tiny seed. Fast forward thirty years and both men have lived and laughed and suffered and survived.
As for the book, I loved all the personal development and explorations. Emmy does a great job of letting the characters breathe and find themselves, while still keeping the lyrical magical qualities of her writing.
