This is more acceptable when you realize The Grinch turned down Sean Penn's Jan. 6th movie for this.

Overall, I did like the movie. I just don't think I felt a single thing.
So it's a hard sell. Performances across the board are wonderful. Did not really understand why the Josh O'Connor (and by extension Eve Hewson) character exists?

Here's the thing. The filmmaking is kind of undeniable. The religion stuff is frustratingly unspecific and generic. The alien stuff is fundamentally rooted in a concept I don't believe (that every government in the world is hiding ET information from everyone for the good of mankind).
