Elizabeth Madin, a researcher at the Hawaiʻi Institute of Marine Biology, developed software to analyze satellite imagery and detect “reef halos” around coral reefs. These features are created by grazing fish and provide a global monitoring tool for coral reef health. 🌊🧪

Gave a lift to a nice family this morning. When I told them I am a marine biologist, the mom said "ok kids, we have 5 minutes, each of you think of a question that you would like to know the answer to about marine biology. Who is ready first?" and it was a real humbling lesson in parenting, lol
