As a newly elected MP in the party that Keir Starmer managed to get into government after 14 years, his immediate priority should be to represent the people of Makersfield who will have elected him when Josh Simons deserted them. Then he should try supporting the elected PM and his other elected MPs

As a Greater Manchester MP, let me be clear. If Andy Burnham wins the Makerfield by-election tomorrow his immediate priority should be ensuring Labour goes on to also win the Greater Manchester mayoral by-election which has to take place by 6 August. Andy is uniquely placed to lead that campaign.
