I don't think people in Makerfield will like you calling it Ashton-in- Makerfield 😉
Exactly. It has to have a pedigree, a history, and has to have consistency. It can't change it's name 3 times, be abandoned for 10 years, abandoned again for a couple of years, then again for 6. It can't be a "major" just because the prize money is big. Look at what happened to the Saudi "major".
A "Major" requires history behind it. Come back in 20 years and ask the question again (if the China Open is still going then).
I liked the Monster Raving Loony man insisting on shaking his hand part way through his speech 😂
We did our bit, but unfortunately we're stuck with that bird brain as one of our councillors. Maybe he can try attending a council meeting now.
Yeah, maybe 20 would be more pragmatic. Problem is that I've been watching Snooker since 1970s and playing since 1982. So 20 years doesn't seem very long to an oldie like me 😉
I feel proud to be from Makerfield today.
I thought that there had only been 18 previously, but maybe I'm wrong on that. It was discontinued in 2019 and has only just come back after a 6 year hiatus (why, if it's such an important event?). I would be looking for at least 30 years. Do you think it should be a major and why? Cheers
Fair enough. I don't agree but I can see your logic and more would probably agree with you than with me I guess. Thanks anyway.
Bozo is thinking "where's the rest of them?"
