"Do you ever think critically about the consequences of universal suffrage?" Yeah the consequence is that governments became broadly representative of their people, instead of a few privileged classes. Not coincidentally after doing so violence cratered and economic and health outcomes improved.

it's remarkable how like, you can visibly notice how people who still use X regularly are either getting dragged to the right (if on the centre-left or centre) or just getting more toxic in general
