Had a similar incident w/sunscreen while in San Diego a couple years ago. Fell asleep on a lounger next to the hotel pool; woke up with (fittingly) a big red L on my chest from uneven sunscreen application.
Apparently sunscreen works best when applied evenly and liberally... oops 🦞
