Tomorrow, RILCH hosts the lovely Prof Petra James, who will be discussing the Habsburg imperial and aesthetic legacies of the “Cabinet of curiosities” in Central European and Belgian modernist fiction of the 1880s-1930s. It's sure to make for an engaging talk, and we hope to see you there @ 5pm!
Join us in G23 for Dr Annie Webster's talk on Uhyggelig Horror! Annie will unravel the literary response to the rise in the commercialisation of hygge culture via the work of Hassan Blasim. It's sure to make for an engaging talk!
👀 Over the last few months, I’ve been working with the terrific triumvirate @spparkle.bsky.social, @emiliekmmurphy.bsky.social & Hannah Yip to set up “Sonance: A Journal of Early Modern Sound Studies”, a diamond open access journal dedicated to historic sounds in all their wondrous & eclectic forms.
Kicking things off this semester, we have a joint seminar taking place on Tuesday 10th Feb @ 5PM where Dr Fiona Tolan & PhD student Özge discuss their recent research. Make sure to follow us at @rilchljmu on instagram or email [email protected] for any details or queries about the event!
Recent Events! Petra James discusses the “cabinet of curiosities” in European Modernist Fiction, Fiona Tolan unravels the feminist politics of cleaning in British fiction, and Özge Kaya Manav presents her research on queer identity in Trumpet. 🏡 Keep an eye out for our Spring events @ RILCH 🌷
