I see a lot of charts everyday. Few make me go: THIS IS CRAZY. www.carbonbrief.org/ai-boom-mean...
NEW: UK's 7th carbon budget will deliver '£865bn' in economic benefits
* Major investments needed to get rewards, inc saving £445bn on oil / gas imports
* Pointedly, given current politics, figures are presented relative to "no net-zero"

My sister bought a heat pump tumble dryer by accident (ie not specifically for a heat pump as unaware of the technology benefits at the time - it just had good reviews)) then was astonished at how much lower the energy usage was v previous high quality models.
Reminder: The UK car industry has over-complied with its EV targets to date

Guess what? The heat pump model costs more to buy, but pays that back in spades
Cost of ownership after one year:
£282 cheapest "traditional" dryer
£281 cheapest heat-pump dryer
After 15yrs, the heat-pump dryer saves more than £700
How awful!
