GB News is weird, right? Very weird? Like, obsessively odd?
As any parent knows from bitter experience, this is nonsense and has, over past decade of promises and hyped claims, never worked. So easy for kids to get around... "give parents 'robust tools' to manage their children’s privacy settings and account controls" www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2026...
Also, it is more than a month since this story was actual news – and even then it was highly misleading bsky.app/profile/drsi...
And if Libby is not accepted by your local council - as was the case for me - use BorrowBox instead. Both are a phenomenal free resource that the vast majority of people in UK still have no idea about. Libraries are amazing. Who knew...
NEW: UK's 7th carbon budget will deliver '£865bn' in economic benefits * Major investments needed to get rewards, inc saving £445bn on oil / gas imports * Pointedly, given current politics, figures are presented relative to "no net-zero" Full analysis: www.carbonbrief.org/...
NEW from me: China’s carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions grew by 2% in the first quarter of 2026, with power sector emissions rising 4%, after a rise in the amount of “wasted” wind and solar power. Emissions remain below the peak in early 2024.

I see a lot of charts everyday. Few make me go: THIS IS CRAZY. www.carbonbrief.org/ai-boom-mean...
First edition of 'Cited' is about to go out! You've got just under an hour to subscribe, if you haven't done so already...
How journalism (in some outlets) works... Today's misleading story in Express about "banning" tumble dryers is written by a journalist who begins with a quote from the Tories... ...the v same 'journalist' who used to be a press officer, parliamentary asst and campaign manager for the... Tories
THREAD: A heat-pump tumble dryer could save households more than £700 Lots of overblown reaction to govt phasing out standard dryers – reminds me of when 2009 Mail frontpage wailed about "beloved" incandescent bulbs But heat pump dryers are just a much better technology 1/5
every time I say this, someone didn't know: you can get the NYRB, the New Yorker, the LRB, Paris Review, The Spectator (weirdly not New Statesman), The Week, both French & Italian Vogue & New Scientist among many many other magazines FREE via the Libby app from your local library?
