Fascinating snippet from this Paul Weller book - apparently the Style Council asked Ian Levine to arrange some strings for them - he was the go-to for strings then apparently - but Ian was busy, and recommended John Mealing. Fair play Ian, that was a very, very good shout when you see what we got.
Marvel are bloody daft to be publishing new work by John Byrne. Not only is he hateful & ignorant, but he writes like a teenage fan. He was a great artist once but his writing has nothing to say about people or the world. There's never a real story there. He's just moving the action figures around.
I'm really glad that at some point the Douglas Adams estate decided to stop doing shit like this (maybe his daughter was old enough to have some control?).
You want to read a novelisation of the unmade Krikkitmen script... Douglas Adams did it himself with the names changed! It existed already!
Don't ask me about the rest of the film (though Plummer is predictably superb as Wellington) but oh boy the battle scenes! Filmed in Ukraine with 17,000 authentically dressed extras and no special effects. (Director Sergei Bondarchuk's son Fyodor, also a filmmaker, is a pal of Putin, unfortunately.)
(that's 'more importantly' to the makerfield residents everyday bin collection etc, not more important than racism before someone goes 'err I think you'll find')
Makerfield election today, if you are in the area do what you can to remind people that under Reform two if not all three England goal scorers wouldn't feel welcome, or might even be deported for their family's migration. Also, more importantly reform are incompetent grifters.
