Venus and Jupiter with the crescent Moon 🌙 seen in Pasadena at the end of day two of the #AAS248 meeting.
We did more spectroscopy on Thursday night, but took a break at the end to take this picture of M13 with the wide field camera.

On Tuesday night, we use the 20 inch telescope to record spectra of Be stars Kappa Draconis and Theta Corona Borealis. Hopefully, we get some more clear weather tonight.
At #AAS248 and saw this poster which explains really well the value of a liberal science education and why I originally came to UIS. Is it true? Absolutely, I can friends and colleagues with astronomy education who have gotten into many of these professions.

Here is a shot from Tuesday night of bright planets, Venus and Jupiter visible in the western sky after sunset. The planets were closest together this weekend and will be gradually moving further apart as the days go by.
NASA’s Lucy mission reveals an asteroid’s hidden history
They screened the film Small Town Universe at #AAS248 tonight. I’m biased because I can smell the places in the film when I see them. And I enjoyed seeing a old friend on the screen. But still a good film I can recommend. www.smalltownuniversefilm.com
