There’s this soft-spoken autistic student in my year 8 class who makes these pencil and ink drawings of unbelievably beautiful, intricate fantasy creatures. They are utterly breathtaking and I wish I could share them in this thread.

mark rothko is my favorite painter of all time. i don't think the nature of his mental illness is known, but it was obviously severe and eventually physically disabling. his inability to communicate was the inspiration for his work.
When I started reading this thread, Yayoi Kusama came to mind. Stunning artist.
I knew that she has voluntarily lived a long time in a mental health facility; I did not know that she’s “the world's top-selling female artist, and the world's most successful living artist” according to her wiki. ‼️
