We are proud to have organised the day in collaboration with The English Speaking Union and @liverpooluni.bsky.social.
Look out for a more detailed summary of the discussions, including recommendations, coming soon.
We discussed how, as more schools believe in the power of oracy education and start to embed it, we may need new tools to understand students’ progress, taking into account the risks and challenges involved in designing new assessment tools.
This included discussions about the role of assessment and screening in ensuring children with speech, language and communication needs receive the support they need to thrive at school.
In a study measuring career readiness, The Careers & Enterprise Company saw an encouraging uptick in self-belief across most workplace skills - except for speaking.
So, how do we build oracy into the curriculum in a way that improves career readiness?👇

"What assessment and progression tools would help teachers deliver the revised curriculum effectively?"
