I spotted this couple house-hunting at the Botanics Garden. I went aww, she's looking at him so adoringly! A birder next to me said, actually, the female is the one with spots on her face. My immediate thought: omg so he's a SIMP! 🤣

A belated post of Day 2 of 30 days of birds: the Greater Painted Snipe! I struggled a lot with getting the features and patterns right... was super stoked to realize my phone could actually ID the exact species in my artwork!

Very much inspired by my 2026 lifer of this species. The Greater Painted Snipe is one of the uncommon avian species where the female is the more strikingly coloured one. They leave chick rearing to the males too!
Sadly I didn't manage to see the male... Manifesting a sighting through my art 👀🤞

It was one of my nemesis birds - I still remember missing the one at Sungei Buloh by 2 minutes..... finally got my shot of it back in Dec 2024 at Jurong Lake Gardens.

Some shots I got of the Chestnut Bellied Malkoha at Dairy Farm Nature Park, back in April 2026. The moment I saw a large silhouette fly in overhead, my heart immediately leapt in my throat. Glad to have spotted a pair that day!
