The death of subtext is very very bad for textual representation by the way. It only reinforces and feeds into narratives of how to be queer and trans in the "proper" way, and dislocates queerness and queer readings from not-explicitly-queer texts. If something can only be read queerly in one way,

can i be frank and say the post 2010s turn of "this character is not explicitly queer & trans unless they turn to the camera and directly say their identity" which while coming from positive intentions of explicit representation which is Good has sort of had the downside of queer/trans erasure

what's frustrating is like there really isn't room for interpretation here TADC does literally everything short of having Jax mug at the camera and go "oh, by the way, i'm a GIRL" people are just inserting their own transphobia into the tiny crack of "there's evidence, sure, but no smoking gun"
