Santa Cruz County is so NIMBY that it even $117k/year for a single person is considered "low-income." SC wages are far lower than SF or Silicon Valley, but HUD has to apply a special correction for exceptional housing-cost-to-income ratio. Even a median incomes qualifies for subsidized housing!

Best of luck explaining to any normal person how it is that if you're a single person in true Silicon Valley making $113,700 or less, the government considers you to be "low income".
Fun fact: the Governor of California has a salary of $246K - "moderate income" for a family of 4!
