Beware the scarecrows of Marshfield (part 1)…
Do not let this man look after your dog. If this woman sits near you, move away quickly and quietly. Whatever this man offers you, say no.
Wednesday: I love these little poppy seedheads. They’re so structural and decorative. They remind me of imperial crowns.
I realised on this week’s Friday Walk that if you’d only ever seen the name of the plant “cowslips” written down, you might think they’re called “cow’s lips”. Which is quite a horrible thought.

I made this new linocut print after a walk on a deliriously hot day recently. I realised how useful church towers can be to orient yourself in the landscape (and to guide you into a village (and the pub)).
I think what I’m trying to do with my work is to explore, document, and react to the landscape and folk culture of Britain as I encounter it on my Friday Walk.
These are the first six of a new series of linocuts I’ve been making in recent months
This week I survived an encounter with a horse, two geese and their goslings, and a thrush lividly smashing a snail against the road.

Beware the scarecrows of Marshfield (part 2)…
If you see this woman at your windows, quickly draw the curtains. Do not let this vicar marry you. Do not let this man fiddle with your broadband connection.
Beware the scarecrows of Marshfield (part 3)…
Do not let this creature make an image of you. Do not leave this man alone in your garden. This man is not a qualified surgeon.
