I’ve done some top-level sports officiating, including international matches between Nz and Australia, and officials often work as hard to be selected as players. They deserve to represent their country and their craft and not be screwed by administrative problems and anti-immigration politics. Nuts

Reports that a referee on FIFA’s World Cup list from Africa has been turned back after trying to enter the US for the tournament. Surely, this is basic stuff FIFA should have ironed out well before now. FIFA has been, as usual, contacted for comment.
