As an educator, many of the Long Island school board races are absolutely terrifying. However, as a nosy lady, they are truly riveting.
The world has felt heavy and scary lately. However, between the ACPT, Artemis II, Hungary’s election, and the daring rescue yesterday of a local stray cat found alive and stable after being hit by a train, my soul feels rejuvenated and my heart feels hopeful again. Good things are still happening 💖

Living a moral life in an age of bullies requires collective action; it cannot be done alone. Each of us must organize and participate in a vast network of moral resistance. From this solidarity we will grow stronger. This is what our current moment requires.

The MTA Police worked with Long Island-based animal rescuer John DeBacker to safely pull this cat off the tracks between Lindenhurst and Babylon.
And now he has a new name: Garfield.
A job well done to all who were involved in giving this lucky cat a second chance.
