Uncovering the initial response: Intra-mitochondrial surveillance activates the UPRmt: Molecular Cell www.cell.com/molecular-ce...
Happy to share our recent discovery of an intrinsic mitochondrial surveillance pathway that activates mtUPR already under mild oxidative stress. Great collaboration with the Vögtle Lab in Heidelberg @voegtlelab.bsky.social and the Büttner Lab in Münster @buttnerlab.bsky.social
Congratulations 🎉 to SFB 1381 student Sakshi Gorey, who successfully defended her doctoral thesis last week!
Her research was performed under the supervision of Valérie Hilgers (project B02).

Our SFB also participated at another Girls’ Day event: SFB 1381 associate PI Fiona Kearns introduced the life of a female scientist 👩🔬 to the girls attending the session “Neugier als Superpower – Dein Tag als Wissenschaftlerin!” taking place at the Faculty of Chemistry.

Our SFB took part at 👩🔬 Girls’ Day 2026:
Together with the CryoEM facility we organized the session "Physik bei -200°C - warum wir Proteine einfrieren, bevor wir sie mikroskopieren 🔬" an amazing event at the intersection of physics, chemistry, and biology.

On April 22 the SFB 1381 hosted a workshop for early‑career researchers on raising awareness of unconscious bias in research. The session combined concise presentations with active brainstorming, group exercises and real‑world case studies.
🙏 Thanks to trainer jennifer j* moos & all participants!
