I was on a panel 10+ years ago at a Video Game Law summit, and a (white, cis) man was SHOCKED when I told him that de-anonymizing the Internet would not stop the harassment of women and other marginalized people. It's yet another discussion that simply hasn't listened to victims for DECADES.
I am already married to my spouse, but if I weren't, the way they ask to see my Animal Crossing villager's outfits every day would definitely make me want to marry them.
I have to spend this 3-day weekend at a car dealership, the dentist, and a funeral. It's hard to rejuvenate from work-related burnout when the time off is spent experiencing every category of pain I can think of!
I have an MBA. Pursuing it changed my life for the better, and it also doomed me to take psychic damage every single day. Our entire country is currently a few dudes seeing clearly that a company is a sham but all agreeing to make number go up, anyway, because they want more turbo wealth. Seems bad!
I feel this way about AI images and voiceover used in training materials. You couldn't thoughtfully build this lesson? Then why are we all mandated to learn it? How do we even know it's accurate or good if you outsourced its creation?
Today was the first time something I've said gained traction on this platform, and I hope it never happens again!
Car owners: Please, PLEASE learn to change your own cabin air filter and engine air filter. YouTube has tutorials, or I will come over and show you, myself. Mechanics LOVE telling you it costs $100 to do each, and in both cases, it's a $15-30 part you can swap out in 3 minutes.
This thread has breached containment and I am muting it, sorry to everyone who feels the need to tell me that their car, mechanic, or dealership is special!
A gentle reminder to us white women: criticism of your harmful position is not victimization. You are not being victimized when someone critiques the harm you are supporting or participating in.
You are experiencing discomfort and it's distressing to you. That's not oppression.
