This is where I depart from some of the Big Green shibboleths about "just transition." We are spending billions and jeopardizing the lives of millions on this planet to maintain not just the economic well-being, but gender status of a shockingly small number of Gen X men.
A "just transition" means massive public transit infrastructure investment so people don't need cars. A "just transition" means laws mandating air conditioning akin to those we have mandating heat. A "just transition" means legal status for slaughterhouse workers as we wind down big cattle ag.
