I get the impulse for autistic people to want to respond by saying that they DID go to college or play baseball or date and work. But that still plays into ableist narratives. Even if an #ActuallyAutistic person does none of these, they still have worth.
My born-in-New-Jersey 5 year old has been asking me for a "rock melon," which I assumed was a cute thing he made up. According to Wikipedia it's what parts of the world calls a cantaloupe. I have a lot of questions about this and he has no answers.
