Basically, we have silly categories (never Best Apple Pie, 'cause we want both new and veteran bakers to join in). People bring a pie that they're inspired to make. We eat too much pie, visit with friendly people, then vote on pies for each category. Category winners go home with goofy trophies.
Mayonnaise, and any mayonnaise-based sauce. Maybe it's ok homemade, but I'm not convinced it is anything but slimy grossness.
Past categories have been:
- Pretty Pretty Princess
- America, the Pie
- Tall
- Animal, Vegetable, or Mineral
- Science!
- Globetrekker
- Smooth Jazz
- Not a Pie But Nice Try
- It's 5 O'Clock Somewhere
- Unicorn Pie
- Some Like it Hot
Aaron and Sarah's 17th Annual Pie-Off will be on Sunday, September 20. If we've ever met in person (even briefly), and you'd like more information, let me know. We had 26 or 27 pies last year. It'd be great to have 30+ pies this year.
