Big developers are often are against yimby candidates because they have traditionally succeeded in the current housing system. Making it easier for small developers to operate creates competition and lowers housing cost, which lowers big developers margins

Once again, the 2026 drop in fossil fuel demand is going to be shocking. Each solar instillation from Haida Gwaii, to Pakistan, to remote Brazil, to Cuba, represents existing demand for fuel disappearing forever.
I think we need to stop asking residents in detached homes if they want apartments on their streets, and start asking people in apartment buildings on arterials if they would prefer if they could live on quiet residential streets
1/ Cuba is out of fuel, strangled by the US fuel chokehold. People are dying, systems are breaking down. This is collective punishment against a people who have done absolutely nothing except live their lives under hard conditions imposed by the US blockade for decades.
