I suspect that much of 'defensive medicine' that's purportedly in response to litigation risk is fake or hyperstitious. Construction contracting likely has a higher litigation risk yet this does little to the culture, nor do people discuss it as a substantial cost driver

We really need to normalize tougher podcasts. It's fine to have fun, friendly ones but it's very problematic to have a media genre that's 99% lobbing softballs

For cuts, place the base edge on the marks of things you want to cut You'll get maybe 2 days of continuous use from the track before it cuts heavy of your line
Connect a ~2" x 60" strip of plywood to a plywood base roughly 10" wide. Make sure the 60" axis is clean and perfectly straight. Place the base of your circ saw against the 2" piece and rip the 8" plywood projection to the width of the saw base

If you ever make a video of your house for someone who's trying to remotely diagnose a problem try filming all the opposite things that you think you should so that there's a least some chance you catch something relevant
Someone sent me a podcast with a guest from a heat pump manufacturing and installation start-up. His (non)answers to system design questions refer to his company's sophisticated monitoring software, which ofc can only be used after the system is installed. Very little pushback from the hosts
You can make your own track saw with a portable circular saw and some plywood scraps. Before commercial track saws and portable table saws became popular carpenters often used these for site work

So I had no idea but apparently a lot of the mani, pedi, facial stuff is about having a spa-type experience. My wife asked me to describe what I thought it was like ("similar to the dentist but the chairs don't go back as far") and she can't stop laughing

Today someone told me that I fight dirty against the bigger guys but honestly pressing my shin against someone else's shin seems like textbook fairness. There's not a single heavyweight who won't sit on me if given the opportunity but I can't use my sharp shins? Come on now
