I was talking about this asymmetry in political communication the other day, and it comes down to the exact same issue: Western center-left politicians are mainly concerned with disciplining their own voters, which is why telling them about good stuff happening elsewhere would be a terrible idea.

the thing is that establishment democrats do not need to be left wing to be successful in this moment, they just have to hate donald trump as much as the base does but they have like oppositional defiant disorder w/re to their voters
