yeah. a huge thorn in the democratic party’s side is that deep blue areas have high levels of dissatisfaction with their respective local party machines and this tarnishes the national party brand.
electing insurgent candidates in local elections who have a popular city-wide mandate to enact policy and arent beholden to a bunch of neighborhood power brokers is a good start

the thing is that establishment democrats do not need to be left wing to be successful in this moment, they just have to hate donald trump as much as the base does but they have like oppositional defiant disorder w/re to their voters

While I trust Vance trying to recast himself as “I was always pro-peace” about as far as I can throw him, I also think there is some merit to this throughline (ie Trump is being lied to and Vance has figured that out)
