Somehow, I'm not even the least bit surprised.
I gotta keep goin on record (not that Beau is saying otherwise; it's a good moment to bring it up) that Japan's relationship with nationalism/imperialism, as well as how that of other countries affected it, is complex, but one plenty of Japanese artists take a thoughtful approach to.
RGG does not.
The thing I don't get about the PR shite game higher-ups spew about AI is they're "using it as a tool to generate ideas" before moving onto "human concepting".
So... you're just adding another layer to the concept stage? You're concepting the concept? How does that save anyone any time or money?!
...He will act how you want. Because you're the writer and he's dead. HE WILL ACT HOWEVER THE PERSON WRITING WANTS HIM TO. BECAUSE HE'S DEAD. BECAUSE THIS ISN'T SOME NEW-AGE WOO-WOO SHIT LIKE YOU'RE CHANNELING THE MAN THROUGH YOUR PEN. YOU'RE PUPPETING A DEAD MAN AROUND FOR PROFIT YOU SICK FUCKS.
Being an audience member is the lowest barrier of challenge for having ethics. You have ZERO skin in the game. You have ZERO reason to capitulate. You have ZERO reason to tolerate any sort of ethical misconduct. And standing against it makes it easier for EVERYONE to follow suit. It moves things.
I called it this for a reason! :)

This is a GREAT question, with an answer I can articulate now! So one of the ways stuff like RGG Games build plausible deniability is by co-opting progressive concepts to argue in favor of conservative values. It's that classic tactic of piggybacking on a progressive agenda to push their own.
??????????
Ain't that the truth, man!
I'm gonna be the positive voice today, and I'm going to insist that there are so many games before the AI bubble that we can play, and we can ignore everything being made in this period of the industry. We are stronger than that. We are not beholden to newness and novelty and brand loyalty.
