We are looking to fill a PhD position for an exciting project on the development of memory consolidation karriere.charite.de/tarifvertraege. This project is part of the DFG-funded CRC www.sfb1315.de/de/sfb1315-2/ and is a collaboration between my lab, Claudia Buss, and @yeeleeshing.bsky.social.
The contingency of generalization on memory specificity depends on age and level of abstraction.

Looking for kids (4-10) and adults (18-35) for an online memory study. Don't pass up this chance to tour some adorable magical cities!
I wrote a thing on episodic memory and systems consolidation. I hope you all enjoy it and/or find it interesting.

🧠 Meet @zoengo.bsky.social, Developmental Psychologist & Principal Investigator at the @mpib-berlin.bsky.social #LEVANTE site.
Here, she explains just how critical cross-disciplinary collaboration is to her research into memory growth.

Very excited to share the first empirical paper from LEVANTE: we describe the LEVANTE core tasks, a set of nine open source tasks for measuring learning and development in kids ages 5-12 years.

Children’s memory growth is shaped by foundational cognitive abilities and the environment
Excited to share the latest from the lab on the molecular mechanisms of silencing and un-silencing a hippocampal engram ensemble. Was fun using a variant of the EPSILON technique developed by Adam Cohen's lab.

Episodic memories are highly dynamic and change in nonlinear ways over time. This dynamism is not captured by existing systems consolidation theories …

Thrilled to see this paper out! It's the culmination of a project begun in the depths of the pandemic with Sabrina Karjack and @zoengo.bsky.social . We continue our exploration of how children generalize when their episodic memory is not yet mature.

Engrams, ensembles of neurons that store memories, exist along a continuum of retrievability. Normally, sensory cues can reactivate a latent engram to…
Children’s ability to generalize from episodic memories varies by both age and the level of abstraction. Here, the authors show that lower level generalization increasingly depends on episodic memory with age, whereas higher level generalization shows no such relationship.
